I hate it when I have to go and train on my own. It can get very stale and repetitive…
I normally have a mate to train with but hes actually been away enjoying himself for a week in France snowboarding. I love to exercise (when I’m in the gym or in the pool) but when I’m on my own it really becomes a mission to get my ass moving!
My mate Paul flew back this Monday just gone, so I’ve got my kit ready and motivation is high and then I find out he’s bloody ill… how selfish is that? ;-P
However, I did manage to drag myself to the gym and have an OK workout without him.
The thing is, lifting heavy weights and pushing till your lungs are about to pop involves a lot of mental focus in it’s self…
You know what it’s like right?? The days you go to or used to go to the gym and you do a workout but barely get out of your comfort zone and at the end you’re leaving the gym pretty much the same way you came in…
I admit, I’ve done it and I’m a fitness professional AND I’m human
Was it worth you going? Probably not…
Was it better to stay at home feeling sorry for yourself because you’re not getting the results you want??
I say, boohoo…
As hard as it was without Paul (my gym buddy) I slapped lazy Jango in the face and trained like I wanted these next 6 week to mean something!
I want RESULTS!
To add to the lack of motivation I’ve had a few other issues to deal with…
Nothing hormonal or female related, thank god! Haha…
I’ve had to kick goodbye a few of my normal weekly treats or the to use better words ‘habits’ and minor ‘addictions’
1. I usually have a coffee when I do a lot of content for my blog (like this one) and emails, my coffee before the gym and coffee at friends. There’s been several occasions when I’ve had to really think and remember why I’m not drinking coffee. I can definitely say this was a habit and an addiction BECAUSE I still 2 weeks in crave the odd coffee…
2. I had my dad and his mate over for dinner on Tuesday night and he brought around a bloody great big toblarone as a sort of a moving in gift I guess… or just to make me crack?? Anyway, when I do little challenges like this I don’t have anything naughty in the house so I don’t get tempted. It’s now been 3 days since it’s been in the house and it hasn’t crossed my mind since I woke up on Wednesday so my cravings are under control.
3. Talking about cravings. My first week was BAD. VERY BAD… for 3 days I couldn’t not stop feeling hungry!!! Everything I ate was good, had plenty of fats, veg and meat but the hunger would not stop. I blame the lack of coffee, lack of my mid week cheat meal, the lack of fish oils and the lack of carbs!
4. I was actually a week late taking my omega-3’s as the company I get them from didn’t have any in stock so I had to sweat waiting! I tell you what though, since taking them my cravings are MUCH more under control AND I’ve actually lost body fat since taking them daily! Sugar – Bad – FATS – GOOD!
5. Who loves PIZZA??? I F***ING LOVE a large tasty pizza all to myself! Yes, call me greedy but that’s what I like to treat myself to at the weekend. Thick crust, hot & spicy… you get my point, hasn’t passed my lips!
6. I have definitely noticed a massive improvement in my sleep! MASSIVE. Me being business driven and thinking about stuff, I stay up till about 11:45, 12, sometimes12:30 and have to get up to teach my morning fitness camp at 6:30am!! Since I’ve removed the coffee I wake MUCH clearer AND easier as my adrenals are not buggered from all the over excitement. To be honest a lot of people shouldn’t be drinking it anyway because they have enough stress in their lives so why add more?? I’ve proved to myself unless my mind is relaxed, coffee is not a great fit with me.
7. This one is simple, DO NOT go shopping when you’re hungry as it’s torture!! The small of the freshly baked bread, the salt and vinegar kettle chips, followed by the amazing cheese isle with an amazing variety of smelly cheese and finally the GU cheese cake GU pudding… :’-( My thoughts, I want to get lean as that’s my goals! Stay in the zone! Shop quick and get out of here!
I’m 2 weeks in and feeling confident about the next 4. Let’s just hope I don’t crack anytime soon as I have a few events coming up over the next weeks which will test me!
Loving every mouthful of great food for fat loss is amazing, you just need to get OUT of your comfort zone, COMMIT to yourself and bulldoze through obsticles along the way and not do this…
That’s enough about me….
Take control of your health and start today. There will never be a better day to start than TODAY!
The sooner you do it the more fulfilled you will be
PEACE!
